Course Information

Advanced Life support- level 2 training is designed to prepare healthcare professionals to recognise and respond to clinical deterioration, and to participate in or lead the resuscitation of patients experiencing cardiorespiratory arrest in the healthcare setting.

Course Content

In compliance with ANZCOR Guidelines, this ALS courses will cover the above following topics:
- Advanced airway management (competency assessment item)
- Recognising and managing life-threatening arrhythmias
- Defibrillation (competency assessment item)
- Megacode management – practice of arrest scenarios
- Assessment of megacode management
- Pre-reading material will be forwarded prior to this course
- Common causes of cardiac arrest
- Assessment of the compromised person
- Review basic life support
- Emergency Drugs
- Transcutaneous (external) pacing
- Cardiac arrest algorithms
- Theoretical examination
