Course Content

- Understand the definitions of Pre-eclampsia; Eclampsia; HELLP syndrome; DIC
- Have an overview of statistics; risk factors; risk reduction; diagnosis and management of each condition
- Comprehend the medical reasons for offering elective/emergency birth (Induction of labour or Caesarean section) to preserve life
- Understand the midwifery responsibilities for: Antenatal care; medication management; VTE risk assessment; birthing care; postnatal care and communication needs of women experiencing pre-eclampsia and associated conditions
