This Manual handling course provides nurses with the theoretical knowledge and skills required to perform safe manual handling in healthcare settings. Aligned with guidelines from Safe Work Australia, the course focuses on reducing the risk of musculoskeletal injury while maintaining patient safety.

This online learning is for healthcare professionals. Practical face to face training is required for Manual Handling competency.

This online education is delivered in 2 parts:
Step 1: Online learning.
Step 2: Online knowledge quiz (100% pass required for certification).

Once you have completed your online learning and quiz, you will receive your certificate via email.

Course Content

At completion of the learning material, you will be able to:
- Understand the definition and types of hazardous manual handling tasks in healthcare
- Be aware of the Australian statistics on workplace injury
- Recognise the type of musculoskeletal injuries that may occur
- Have knowledge of work health and safety laws, organisational and personal responsibilities
- Identify risks and conduct basic risk assessments prior to manual tasks
- Know how to perform safe manual handling techniques and communicate effectively
- Use manual handling equipment correctly
- Identify incident response requirements
- Be aware of recovery and support services
