Healthcare providers have a responsibility to provide culturally safe effective care. Equitable care for all service users is paramount and must be provided without bias, judgement or exclusion. All health workers are obliged to maintain education on Cultural Safety. Therefore, it is considered mandatory training for all nursing, midwifery and healthcare roles in all States and Territories of Australia.
This course has been accredited in the 2026 – 2028 ACRRM CPD Program for 1 Educational Activity Hours.
Renewal: 1 year (depending on work site policy)

Course Content
Learners will cover the following content: - Define cultural safety and important related key terms - Apply the national standards for culturally safe care to your practice - Understand the social determinants of health and apply them to diverse cultural groups - Apply cultural safety principles to specific cultural groups - Use effective communication strategies when working with people from diverse cultures - Reflect on your own cultural identity and bias - Be able to deliver culturally safe care and access identified - First Nations and other cultural support services to maintain patient self-determination
